Learning Objectives:
- To achieve familiarity with existing studies documenting an increased risk of both clinical and subclinical cardiovascular disease in people living with HIV, along with their limitations
- To understand the sociodemographic characteristics of women with HIV in the U.S., and their high burden of cardiovascular risk factors
- To gain knowledge on the role of HIV and related factors in development of subclinical cardiac disease in women, using sociodemographically similar women without HIV as the comparison group
- To appreciate the implications of the increased risk of subclinical cardiac disease in women for evaluation and management.
