Dr. Dan Fletcher is a Professor of Bioengineering and Biophysics at UC Berkeley and the Pernendu Chatterjee Chair of Engineering Biological Systems. He is also a Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator and currently serves as Director of the Blum Center for Developing Economies at UC Berkeley. Dr. Fletcher and his laboratory develop biophysical techniques to study fundamental mechanisms of cellular organization, with applications to infectious diseases, immunology, and cancer biology. His global health work has focused on the development and implementation of mobile diagnostic technologies. Dr. Fletcher received a B.S. from Princeton University, a D.Phil. from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow.

The EPPIcenter at UCSF aims to advance the understanding of infectious diseases to reduce global morbidity and mortality. We believe that the greatest success in the fight against infectious diseases will come through a highly interdisciplinary, systems epidemiology approach, connecting traditionally siloed theoretical work, technology development, generation and collection of empiric data, and analysis using statistical and mathematical modeling.
